From Trade Work to Treasure Hunting

I’m a carpenter by trade. For years, I spent my days on job sites, focused on blueprints and building things that last. But my life changed during a commercial job while I was installing a man-door in a warehouse.
I met a guy who was doing something I’d never seen up close: Full-time reselling. He had a warehouse full of inventory and a team of buyers sourcing for him. Right then, I realized that there was a massive world of online commerce that most people never see.
I already loved garage saling and thrifting, but that encounter was the spark that turned a hobby into a mission.

The $0 Startup Challenge
I didn’t start with a warehouse or a big bank account. In fact, when I decided to take this seriously, I was relatively broke. Work was barely covering the bills, and I didn’t have a penny of “extra” cash to invest in inventory.
I challenged myself: Can I start with nothing and build a business?
I scoured my own house. I sold old DVDs I’d never watch again and duplicate tools from my carpentry kit—things I would have normally just thrown in a garage sale. I took that first bit of profit and reinvested it. Then I did it again. And again.
Today, those “worthless” items have turned into thousands of dollars in profit.

The “Instinct” Win: My favorite flip wasn’t my biggest check—it was a 1980s bathtub toy. It looked common, and it was priced higher than I liked, but my gut told me to grab it. That was my first $100+ profit sale made purely on instinct.

Why I Built This Site (The Teacher’s Heart)

I come from a family of educators. My mother, father, sister, wife, and brother-in-law are all teachers. I guess you could say teaching is in my DNA.
When I started reselling, I made mistakes. I looked for a resource that provided real, actionable knowledge before I went out sourcing, but I couldn’t find exactly what I needed.

I started Everyday Treasure Hunters to be that resource. I want to help you:
Avoid the expensive mistakes I made.
Build the “instinct” to find gold where everyone else sees junk.
Reach your goals—whether that’s paying a light bill or building a full-time income.

Beyond the Hunt
When I’m not digging through a bin at a thrift store or checking for Uranium Glass with my blacklight, I’m a father and a lover of all things vintage. I believe there’s a story in every old item, and I’m obsessed with the thrill of finding it.
I also run on coffee and the belief that with the right knowledge, anyone can turn a weekend hobby into a life-changing stream of income.

Let’s find some gold.
